I hope that all our families, students, and staff members have had a relaxing refreshing summer. Summer is such a blessing; we get to spend time outdoors, spend more time with our loved ones, and "re-charge our batteries" for another year of learning and growth. We still have a few weeks left, but those weeks slip by fast, and I know that people will want to get a head-start on preparing for the new school year.
We would like you to join us in welcoming some great new staff members. Amy Heinzman will be teaching Second grade, and Caitlin Duncan will be teaching First grade. In addition, some existing teachers will be taking new roles. Vanessa Prull will teach Third grade and Kristen Garcia will join Valerie Genztler in our LAP(Learning Assistance Program) program. Annie Boyd joins us as our School Psychologist. Nicole Hyatt will be our second Intervention Specialist. We are lucky to have para-educator, Juan Faba with us permanently this year. We have new assistants in our kitchen: Sheryl Balough, Angela Queen, and Kary Boyer-Phillips. One of the best things about Blue Ridge is our talented, caring, and committed staff, I know these fine folks will fit into their new roles well.
Our building is bright and shining, and well cared for due in large part to our amazing custodial team. John Kiefel, Jorge Guitierrez, and Elias Alonso are super-stars! They move furniture, thoroughly clean every nook and cranny of our building, and do it all with "can-do" attitudes and huge smiles. We are so very lucky to have these gentlemen on staff. We are also very lucky to have had help from WWPS Facilities and Maintenance Department to re-carpet our Pod 1 classrooms. This is the final phase in my several-years' long goal to re-carpet the entire building. It looks great! Our in-district partners have been so generous, and we extend a huge "thank you" to them!
The WWPS Technology Department has also been at work helping us with the acquisition of some great new technology. Chrome Boxes have been installed in K-1 classrooms. Two new Chrome Carts with 30 Chrome Books have also been added to our building. Students love to use this new technology, and this greatly helps them acquire 21st century skills. Thank you to the WWPS Technology Department for your hard work and generosity.
Please refer to the Blue Ridge and WWPS District websites for the most up-to-date information regarding back-to-school dates and activities. We cannot wait to begin the 2015-16 school year!
