We continue to work hard to meet our goals despite the sunny weather and thoughts of summer. We have several things I'd like to highlight.
Assessments and Testing - We are nearly in the thick of our spring assessments and testing. These measures help us understand where students have made growth, and what we need to do to help them continue in their academic work. You can help by setting an early bedtime, reading to and with your child, making sure they have a good breakfast, plenty of exercise and time outdoors, limiting TV and video game time, and scheduling doctor, dentist, and other appointments outside of school hours whenever possible.
Parent Involvement - One of the most important ways to help your child succeed in school is to stay involved. We have had many wonderful parent and family events this year, and I hope you've enjoyed them as much as we have. From the STEM Science Night to the Family Carnival, these events are not only fun but educational. If you're wondering about other ways to be involved, please consider attending our Parent Meetings, which are held once a month. Your voices and ideas are so welcome and needed for a positive school environment.
End of Year Activities - We have some amazing events scheduled for the End of the Year. We host a movie day in the cafeteria, a field day, and many smaller classroom celebrations in the ending weeks of our school year. These activities are open to all students who display expected behaviors during the year. We encourage you to talk to your child about school behavior expectations, so that they understand that it is a team effort: parents, staff, and students working together to mold good citizens.
As always, I invite your comments and feedback. Let's work together to end the 2013-14 school year on a positive note!
