Fall, 2013 Letter
Families and Friends-
Welcome back! It has been a great summer, but the staff and I are ready for the next great year of learning. Depsite the long break, teachers and support staff have been working quite a bit over the summer to prepare for students to return.
We are lucky to have such a great custodial staff. They have tirelessly cleaned and straightened, moved furniture, and made our building one that students and staff can learn in a clean and organized environment. If you see one of our custodians, please give them a big thank you.
Fortunately, we were able to have new carpet installed in the Pod 3 classrooms, and it looks amazing. My hope is to recarpet one pod each summer until all classrooms have new carpet. It has been a long time since classrooms were refreshed with new floor coverings, and I know this will make a big difference in how our school presents itself. Studies have shown that students perform better in a clean and safe envirmonment, and we have been working toward this since I've taken the lead here at Blue Ridge.
We had great turn-out at our Open House on the 29th. Thank you to all families who made the time to come and re-aquaint themselves with our building and routines. It is my hope that students will return to a feeling of welcome and with many questions already answered. I want them to begin with their learning right from day one!
Please check our website often for updates on events and important announcements. For instance, we have a Family Night planned in September, and I hope that everyone can attend. A school community is not just students and staff, but friends and family, too. We need a strong community to give students the very best education possible.
Warmly,
Kim
